I ran control with rtx fine at 1440 on a 2080 super so it should
You mean it should run fine on the 2070 or the 3080 ? I'll have another play now to jog my memory.

Damn well after ive downloaded it !
The 3080 I meant, I think 1440p with dx12 /rtx was pushing the 2080s

I've currently got a GTX970 on an i5-4590 and am very tempted to upgrade with the 3070 as I was planning on upgrading to a 1080ti this year but it seems they've stopped making them!
Though my benchmark score reckons my graphics are better than my CPU so maybe that can be swapped out too...

4 cores 4 threads is a bit of a bottle neck in many modern AAA games so if you can find a cheap i7 to drop in there this will help a lot (mainly effects the minimums and .1% fps rates). 970 is still a good 1080p card (medium to high) but some games (e.g. Doom eternal) eat up that 3.5 GB memory very quickly and this will only get worse.

After a very quick test on Ultra at 1440p getting around 30-35 / 1080p around 58 and at 1440p with DLSS around 63.

Yeah it's interesting and seems to work very well and the image quality is very good but i'm old school .... If I want 60fps at 1440p then I want it at 1440p....

Interesting vid here by Digital Foundry ...

3080 looks like the perfect upgrade for my 1080 then.

Scan.co.uk have prices up of some of the aftermarket cards, looks like 650-750 range.

3090 prices already up.

I've only just begun to find the limits of my 1080ti with Microsoft flight simulator.

Am waiting to see how demanding the next round of vr hardware is before pondering a change.
Do you see the Inno X4 3090 and 3080 cards, 3 big cooling fans and one tiny fan on the side.

I'm currently rocking a 2060 so the 3070 is really looking attractive. 2080ti performance for £470ish? Looking like a no brainer to me
This is the boat I am in too. My 2060 is noisier than I would like so sounds like a good excuse to upgrade.

Kinda want the 3090, however the current card is 10.5 inches and as you can see, just barely fits.

I'm thinking vertical GPU mount, and dremel a nice slot in the back of the case. Even then still could be pretty tight.

So... The Founders Edition with the innovative 2 fan cooling which seems to have been ignored by the 3rd parties going for what generally looks like a standard type cooling solution ? What's going on there ?

It did leak when I first built it, and it took out the motherboard. Processor survived. It was very much a labour of love and a learning exercise, there's probably about £1,000 in WC components alone.

The great thing is it's totally silent, even at 100% load. Not looking forward to draining it and redoing the pipework for the next card, but it's something I always wanted to do. Now I'm stuck with a reservoir in the way, because I like making things difficult for myself? hehe

OCUK still have 9 x MSI 2080Ti's in stock, 20% off - only £1,199.99 each.

Surprised it's not already up on HotUKDeals.
