Brave browser still working perfectly, no ads in videos or in the window.
Also found out by accident t’other day that the video will still play if you minimise the browser.

I hope they continue with ads because I always look forward to the next advert of slot games.

I'm susprised they didn't do that from the very start. I couldn't believe that ad-blockers could actually block YT ads too.

Personally, I've paid for YT Premium for the past couple of years. By far my most-used streaming video service, I get much more VFM out of it than Prime or Netflix (especially with the music streaming 'Youtube Music' included).
I don't get the pricing model for YT premium. I don't want music or downloads/offline I don't want background play I just want ad-free - give me that at a reasonable price and I'd pay. I doubt I'm the only one. The music part is going to be the majority of costs to run the service.

Yep, £5/month Ad free and they would rake it in.

I've said before but I'd pay a tenner for the existing premium service no bother. They're always just that bit too greedy though.

Anyone noticed the absence of ads on YT recently? I'm not getting any at all on either my Android phone or my PC.
Well, the party's over. I posted the above on 23rd May and haven't had any adverts at all until this evening when they have returned. I have no idea why I wasn't getting any or why they have returned but I'm sad they have.

On my PC I can still click "back" and then immediately click "forward" and it goes straight into the video. There's no getting away from the ads that are inserted into the middle of videos though.

I used to get occasional adverts but I just closed all my browser windows and reloaded and it was fine after that. Might just be one of those things.

SmartTube, installed on my TV, skips everything.
It even shows different colours on the progress bar to show
when it will happen. Long may it continue!

I watch YouTube on the main TV and can't block ads on it. In the last few weeks, the frequency and duration of ads has basically doubled. It's really got up to the point that I'm just giving up on watching YouTube in that room.

Ads that used to be skippable after 20 seconds are now so after 40. Videos with those don't get watched. Most ads are 20 seconds. Those skippable after 5 seconds are now the rare exception when they used to be the norm.

I have disabled Adblock plus and installed Privacy Protector Adblocker, Memory usage had risen to 1.6 GB.

Memory usage is now down to 218 MB, Success.
Is there an effective one for the phone?

Youtube is almost unwatchable now, the ads are getting really intrusive.

I wouldn't mind one every three clips but it's 2 at the start, within 20seconds of the start etc etc.

I use newpipe on android as an alternative player to youtube. the downside is you don't sign in so your subscriptions aren't there but you can export them from google and import them. Other benefits are you can download video or audio for use offline.

Smartube keeps your subscriptions.
