It does health stuff as well as payment. - which was a bonus for me as I wanted a wearable fitness tracker that wasn't a watch as I still like to wear a 'real' watch.

Well... it will when it ships - it's 4 months late already.
I like the look of this one as it claims to monitor blood pressure, but I think I'd want to see some reviews/verification that it's accurate first.
Blood pressure monitor in a ring? That is highly, highly unlikely. Effectively, there is no chance it will do this with anything approaching meaningful accuracy.

Looking at that link there is no way on Earth I would be investing in that. It has an O2 sensor too does it? Buuuuullllshheeeeeet.

In the US, the Samsung Galaxy Smart Watch has BP monitoring. Whilst the tech exists in the UK versions, Samsung had to disable it because it's total bks.

From what I can gather, their ring is also equally inaccurate. What's the point?! You would think they would wait until it actually does what it's supposed to.

The Samsung ring doesn't measure blood pressure.

I hear optical sensors on watches are getting close to being reliable for blood pressure trends ( you need to calibrate with a cuff periodically) so i don't see why a ring can't do it?

Currently, there's only one watch that can genuinely measure BP, and that uses a cuff.

Completely wrong.

Samsung has BP in the watch and it is accurate enough. Every 30 days you have recalibrate it with a standard BP cuff.
The only thing missing from the UK vs US watch is the sleep apnea tracking - they are wait for approval to enable it in the UK.

It's not "completely wrong", but it may be out of date. It certainly was the case.

Just a couple of days left of McLear ring usage!

I stumbled across this thread whilst Googling why the firm is discontinuing the offering - turns out it's due to the expense of running the operation.

I won mine at a Compliance event (exciting, I know!) earlier this year, having put my card in a jar, so mine cost nothing, just had to select the colour. As one or two have mentioned, it's been a talking point for sure.

I've run my balance down to 10p and as it seems the ring can't be unlocked to assign to another account I've binned it. Claim for the reimbursement of the remainder of the three year lifespan submitted. I'll get another ring from somewhere. I'm going off the idea of hand chip though as from the videos I've seen it seems they put it on the top of the hand and only just under the skin, so I'd be able to feel it like a lump and I wouldn't like that, or turning my hand to a weird angle on the payment terminal.

Sorry to re resurrect this post. For anyone looking for Payment Rings, Here is one that requires just one app. Rings have not really taken off because users need multiple apps downloaded before they can start using them.

Monesave Mastercard Ring only needs the one app and can be topped up with Cards, Banks Transfers or Crypto. So this definitely brings more utility to the Payment Rings and anyone looking to seamlessly tap in and out of places with no need to bring along wallets or phones. Those in the cities (London, NY, etc would understand the risk I mean here).

You can order the Monesave Ring on Amazon now.

Amazon now

Of course there are cheaper rings on Amazon or much better, etc. however these need multiple apps and you are constrained on how you can top them up, and who can sign up.

I'm still waiting for this to ship... Now a year late.

Apparently about ten have shipped. It no longer has the turn wheel functionality.... And the payment function is not yet enabled... Oh and the haptic feedback was also removed....the feedback from the few users who have received one also suggests that the fitness monitoring isn't accurate and step counter is about 80% out.

On the plus side the creator has a stand at CES this year....

Hmmm crowdfunding... Not always the success that's presented!!

Muse Wearables. Pretty poor.

MuchBetter ring only needs one app, and cost £5.99 when you top up your account with £50
