Hi all - have just had to build a new PC due to motherboard failiure on old machine and have taken the opportunity to upgrade a little - new machine Athlon 64 3800, 1 gig ram, 2 x 80GB HDD running windows XP home SP2 - all up & functional first time (well chuffed with myself as managed to recover all data from old PC without too much bother)- there's just one niggling problem - despite hibernation being enabled in XP and a suitable power option profile set up it just won't auto hibernate after the prescribed time, will however happily stand by - am using logitech LX7 cordless optical mouse and logitech setpoint is installed, machine will hibernate manually but won't pick up the mouse on resume - this has to be a bios setting? can anyone point me in the right direction?? perhaps linked but maybe not is that over the last couple of days the mouse has been behaving oddly - movement jerky whilst lethargic at the same time - have updated driver with no improvement??? Googled the problem and come across various articles suggesting issues when running 1gb+ ram - please help it's a minor irritation but having painlessly come this far it's starting to drive me mad!

Hibernation requires all drivers to support that mode. If they don't it won't do it (although it shouldn't give you the option if the system isn't compliant).
But, quick way to check to make sure it really is enabled is:
Start > Shutdown

Press Shift. Standby should become Hibernate. If it doesn't, then 'something' is odd.

Check in event viewer around the times the system should go in to standby for any warning or errors.
