So what were the results? Can you give us a top 10 list? I know I wasn't first but with 127.4 db, it'd be nice to know where I came. A great day and very well done to all those involved with the organisation. thumbup

We handed all the results to Richard who will currently be enjoying well-earned refreshments in York City centre.

So is that why we were supporting Hearing Dogs for the Deaf?
The winner gets a free dog to use when their hearing goes!

I suppose you could conclude that the V8 boys aren't as "TVR" as us noisier S6 crew. wink

Actually no, I’ve been doing this test for TVRCC and PH events since 2003 and this is the first time an S6 has won. The loudest of all was byff's AJP Cerbera with rattle cam and straight through pipes with a reading of just over 133dB. The best explanation I can come up with is that the S6 can often sound louder but that is due to the violent nature of the sound. The V8's make a smoother sound so the effect on the people around is less aggressive. In my experience the older V8's (wedges) are the loudest with AJP V8's next. Then S6 followed by the Chim/Griff RV8's.

I find the V8's with straight through pipes are always louder than S6's no matter what exhaust the S6 has. The problem is not everyone wants to stress their engines so I only get to test a fraction of attendees. None of this years V8's were piped straight through so a well made S6 exhaust would be have a very good chance of taking the lead. That said 128.9dB is the loudest S6 reading I have ever taken.

Test done at 1 metre and 45 degrees from tail pipe.

Hope that makes sense. Several beers have been consumed tonight

My Tuscan was clocked at 135db this week at the Nordschleife by the marshals.

I was politely asked to quieten the car if I wanted to do anymore laps.

I was given a temporary ban :-)
