GTV Cup Purchase

Not sure how active these forums are for Alfa’s but have bought this little beauty and figured no harm in gaining some knowledge around the marque.
Always wanted an Alfa but wanted to dip my toe in first and at least get a car that’s been fully sorted and also wanted something relatively rare.
I know it’ll cost to run but it won’t be doing many miles in my ownership so with the restoration it’s had I’m hoping it’ll be relatively cheap fun.
Yes there be some niggles as it’s a Alfa but let’s hope the charm out ways any hassles.

Looks nice but my own advice is go for a really good non cup car.
It's mechanically identical and has full leather seats, if you really loved the Cup bodykit it can be added.
3.0 or 3.2 GTV's are great value and the cup carries a huge premium which I don't particularly get, if it had different suspension or more power maybe I would. Bonus if you can get one with a Quaife or Q2 Diff....
A great GTV could be half the price of a Cup and no less of a car, then you have money to spend on tweaking it a little.
There is also the spider if you like that sort of thing, I bought a 3.0 Spider for just £4300 a few years ago and it's been great fun, not the absolute sharpest by my god is the engine lovely with a Wizard Exhaust, GTA flywheel etc. Also fitted new shocks etc. I have a Quadrifoglio day to day and yet the spider is still a lot of fun

I tend to go for cars built in low numbers just so they tend to hold value well .
I’m not looking to make money on this car but to add it with my R26R which again is a rare thing.
Point taken on the regular GTV and adding upgrades but this caught my eye for all that had Been done to it .
The mechanical photos say it all I think.
Can’t wait to pick her up will update the thread this evening but I’m excited to own my first Alfa having bought beetles for many years

Sorry for being an arse, I misread and thought you were looking!!! I tend to go for cars built in low numbers just so they tend to hold value well .

This afternoon should prove a fun journey home.
Spoke in length to the seller after I'd bought it who's a true enthusist and still owns another cup plus a 4c so I'll always have a point of reference with him I'm sure.
Have joined the Alfa owners group on FB and so far so good .

My spider has 133k on it, usually wouldn’t buy a high miler but it had been fastidiously maintained and they are good for the miles!
Just read the history, looks great
Wow i'm in love!
The car is amazingly mint and in some regards reminds me of the old 355 i once owned like the driving position .
I'm used to hard GT cars and this is nothing like but its still nicely compliant.
Great weather to collect it today, i had ( yes) narrow deck shoes, Bermuda shorts , a short and shades and i was in my element .
Maybe a little bit of Matt Monroe playing would have set the scene perfectly!
As my name would suggest i've been into hard core beetles for some years but today this was just perfect .
Can't thank the seller enough as the car is unbelievably well maintained and he's a true enthusiast. The underside of the car is spotless, the sills are in great nick and man that engine bay !
The interior is just so beautiful too.

The V6 is much more robust that than the TS - i used mine daily for a couple of years.
Problems are well known by now and the fixes readily available, just keep an eye on the usual suspects - even the less than reliable Meta alarms can be sorted. Only part i've had difficulty sourcing recently was a brake compensator valve so if you do see one grab it, just in case !

The seller did tell me about the difficult of getting parts. I’ll find a local specialist and use them when it comes to service and repair .
He has painstakingly sought original parts for the car so I’m hoping I can keep it as well as he has .
Miss my old 355 as well now !

That's a lovely Cup, gorgeous condition. After considering the Cup I went the standard car route, found a decent one in good Condiction with all the major jobs done, saw the tan/dark green combination and was sold..
Bought it from an owner on here.

Weather looking pretty good for Sunday so might take her for a run to the coast.
Very different car to drive for me given I’m generally used to pretty hard riding cars.
Fair to say the car is in exceptional order.
The only short term consideration is the Tyres as although they have plenty of tread left they are old and I can hear how hard they have now become when I’m driving if that makes sense.
They’ll do for the remainder of this year though

I was bidding on the car and stopped at £15k so only just lost out to you.I very rarely look at the forums, but something brought me here.... only to find one of my old cars still looking good and going strong!
No.72 was mine back in 2005 as my daily, put about 9k miles on it, then was replaced by a new RX8 (couple of young kids, so even as the emergency/2nd family car, regretfully the GTV couldn't hack it).
Only issue during that time was a blown headlight bulb.
Happy memories... so much so, I re-joined the Busso fraternity last year, now driving a 156GTA.
