Any ear nose and throat specialists? Have a taste problem

I seem to have lost the ability to taste sweet things, with sweetness being replaced by an unpleasant bitterness or slight sourness. Tasting pure salt or pure vinegar tastes normal but even normal savoury foods just don't taste "right" everything tastes funny really with the lack of ability to taste the sweetness seeming to be the problem.

It's been going on for around 8 weeks now with doctors fairly stumped other than they think it is probably caused by a viral infection causing nerve damage after I had a bit of a sore throat and that it could take months to clear up. I've been referred to an ENT specialist but no idea how long I will have to wait so any specialists on here have any idea if theres anything that should be checked or anything I can think about for other symptoms etc?

So far I've been checked for anemia, which I don't have and for thryoid problems where they found my thyroid stimulating hormone was slightly higher than usual (at 4.8 if that means anything?) but not enough that they think theres anything really wrong and that it's totally unrelated.
