I`m turning into an old fart so i`m looking to get an electric blanket this year, been looking and its a mine field out there, i`m looking for one that heats up quickly and feels comfortable, i dont intend leaving it on all night just something to warm up the bed fast, retain the heat for a bit and big enough to reach down to the bottom of a standard bed, so nothing to fancy by any means, Any good recommendations anyone?

We bought ours from John Lewis. Very happy with it.

Thread resurrected for new query – Leccy blanky or wool underblanket/mattress topper?

Thoughts and opinions chaps, please.

http://www.currentbody.com/rehab-pain-relief/beure...

http://woolbeddingshop.co.uk/merino-wool-underblan... – can be had cheaper from eBay sellers, a little over half the price of the electric blanket.

So, which route to go to beat the winter chills of a cold bed(room)?

Edit: Tried mumsnet – as I'm not pregnant or incontinent (yet!) they had little to offer on the subject matter.

We have a Dreamland overblanket, it has controls for each side, and it's great. I tend to run my side all night (our bedroom is quite cold) but my wife just uses hers to warm the bed up before getting in.

We have to leave ours on all day for one of our cats.

Underblanket to warm the bed up before you get in. Best £30 I ever spent.

Though I can almost guarantee that John Lewis will have sold out by now.
