As I am about to be moving to my first house I've been trying to get some furniture together. Seeing the cost of new badly made furniture I decided to pop to the local auction and ended up buying an old bar table for £4.

Whilst playing a game of scrabble on it I noticed it was exactly the same size as a super scrabble board. As I had a few days off I then got a bit carried away...

SO I present to you my Super scrabble table complete with Scrabble letter coasters!

I'm pretty happy with the overall result as a first try and it's definitely given me the bug to do some more and I need some inspiration. I also got an old chest at the auction which I'm planning to do something to.

So pistonheaders let's see your creations!

Just to add the biggest thing this project taught me is that getting the right masking tape is key to success! Cheap masking tape leaks paint... Expensive masking tape removes paint... B&Q own brand blue masking tape is just right!

Great idea, really like that.

We bought some old 12" timbers & I made a table & cupboard from it, still standing 10 years later

What, in the name of the Holy Warrior Skunk of Rotherham, is UPCYCLING...?

Is this something akin to uphill gardening, or what....?

I'm not sure my table fits the description as it is neither of higher quality or eco friendliness than it was before... But you can play scrabble on it!

Only thing I have photos of on ipad-

Bought for £17 on eBay - nice marble topped washstand that someone has chopped the legs on

Top off and sanded then primed

One coat over oil primer keeping brush strokes and some sanded edging

Done and in room - sky box and DVD player / router inside - total cost under £40.

Customising = ok, up cycling a washing machine drum into a chair or something = weird IMHO.

Thank you, sir.

You'd think the Germans would have learned, after two world wars. It seems not...hehe
