Heatmiser Wifi thermostat or similar
Discussion
There is a stand-alone white box that goes next to the boiler, has a couple of LED's on it and a one time pairing button but apart from that it uses a wireless (not wifi I believe) link to communicate with the thermostat.
I wouldn't be without the Wifi option now - the actual thermostat isn't actually that user friendly but the web interface and the iphone app are a doddle. It's like the buttons for changing channel on the TV, the actual thermostat interface is now redundant - haven't used it since installing.
Best bit about the Wifi was coming back from holiday on New Years day. Set the temp in the house before we left via the internet and got back late at night to a warm reception rather than waiting the usual hours to get the core temp back up.

Guess it depends where you are starting from - I had an old British Gas RC1 timer for heating / hot water and the Heatmiser control box pretty much directly replaced this wire for wire.
Took about two hours going very methodically and taking photo's, marking wires etc
Biggest pain was getting mains power to the thermostat part because the old BG thermostat was battery powered. Still need to finish this off, I've ended up temporarily replacing a heated floor controller with the thermostat much to the complaint of the children.
