Going to get some stripes on the Cobra and torn between painted or vinyl.

The car is already painted, so painting stripes and clear coating the whole car again isn't really an option (for economic reasons). So, there will be an edge with either option.

Surprisingly, the price I've got for painting the stripes is cheaper than the prices I'm being quoted for doing them in cast vinyl.

I know, in theory, vinyl is removable at a future date whereas paint obviously isn't, but in terms of quality of finish, is there anything to choose between these 2 options? I was surprised how expensive the vinyl route is... I've had a couple of quotes and they're coming in around £300-500 supplied and fitted.

I'd go the vinyl route, purely so there's the option of fairly straight forward easy removal. How many quotes have you had and would your location be a factor at all?

Frog tape and plasticoat? Just don't wash it too vigorously...

:-)

I'd guess that even with removable vinyl, it might leave a different colour when removed due to paint fade??

When I did stripes on my car they cost me £20 for the vinyl and looked perfect... took 1.5days to do though as the materials I bought where crap and very hard to manipulate.... if i was to do it again Id use better materials and spend less than half the time to get them perfect.

I'm not sure what you had been quoted for the vinyl, but if you pm me, I could help you out.
