Ive spoken to Phil at Rebellion and he's agreed to do a group buy deal on C63 mapping. Standard price is £699 but he has agreed to £550 a head if we get a handful of names. If you want facts and figures I can find out but from memory I think 515bhp isnt unusual with their tune, bringing it up to almost DR520 figures with better drivability. Not sure when the tuning session will be done but we can work that out as we go. Add names below if youre keen.

Where are Rebellion based and does the tune cover all 6.3 engines? Also, does this remove the limiter too?

Thanks

Id imagine they can cater for all models. They are based in Waterlooville but I think he is also mobile.

Sorry Eddie is this for a straight map or one of their Eurobox Maps that you can upload and remove yourself?

I have to admit that's a great price for a remap.

Will it affect warranty though?

I've seen their crazy C63 on Facebook (although it does have the worst spoiler/wing you have ever seen). I find it hard to understand how 520bhp is done with just a tune on a NA engine? Do they rolling road you before and after? Just seems a lot of bhp for just a remap.

C63s use the same engine as those in the earlier generation E63 and CLS63 whose power output was rated at 525bhp. The C63 does have a more restrictive exhaust, to the tune of around a 20bhp restriction, however it's still very much a 500bhp engine. This is then restricted through the throttle opening - push the throttle to the floor and the fly-by-wire throttle will not fully open at the throttle butterfly. At least that's what I've heard / read / understood.

The reality? I have a Eurocharged remap on my C63. My car was dyno'd, then had the 'map loaded, then dyno'd again, all in the space of 20 minutes. As standard my car was producing 455bhp and after the remap it showed as 507bhp. 57bhp gain at the flywheel there and then.

Could it be felt on the road? Yes absolutely, but only above 5000rpm. This is backed up by the dyno trace leading me to suggest that the artifical throttle restriction is only >5000rpm on standard cars.

Ghibbet has pretty much hit the nail on the head with why these cars are so responsive to tuning alone.

Regarding Dyno figures the fluctuation and variation between days, temps, operators, and dyno manufacturers can vary results wildly. Actual gains and driver feeling are much more important than final figures, and the average gain is approx 60bhp in the C63 case..

Genuine question - is it worth doing this on a PP+ car? If Mercedes is being conservative with the power numbers from the factory (most seem to dyno at 495 - 507), are you going to notice a bump to 515bhp?

However, if you combine a tune with headers & high flow primary cats, I understand you can get to 560-ish which could be interesting...

Be interesting to see how the traction of the car responds to an extra 60 bhp. It can already be a bit of a handful in anything other than dry roads!

Also with the warranty can MB not tell if it has been 'tampered' with?

On a pp car you will also notice the 20ftlbs of torque across 95% of the RPM range aswell as gearbox sharpening..
