Above the half-landing, which has its own double step, is a very high wall and a window.

I have ladders but getting a stable base to get near the top is impossible, as far as I can tell.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

In the past I have just made up a temporary box, profiled to fit 2 or 3 steps, to stand the ladder on. It just needs to simple & cheap enough to knock up in half an hour, but strong enough to take the weight of an adult.

The pole thing is fine for walls & ceilings, but it can't help with edges & corners!

I've just realised that, if I remove the paintings from the sidewalls, I could use an extending ladder cross-wise, instead of up against the outside wall.
They've been there so long I was just seeing them as obstructions.
Problem solved, I think.

Yes, I remember seeing a decorator use a box as described; could be something useful to knock up from some spare ply when I get a minute.
