When we bought the house one was fitted in the toilet. This was subsequently knocked though to the bathroom and a new fan installed to de humidify the bathroom. I then found it failed so I replaced it. Now the setup is that it was a timer fan so it has a live circuit even when off. I wired it in and it worked well. However I have had to replace it since and it failed again. The problem is that the exhaust is a plastic pipe acting as a chimney which goes though the Attic to a ventilation peak tile. The fan which is a 100mm basically shorts out as condensation comes down the pipe and though the fan. I have had a a look and have a few solutions in mind but what ideas would you have?

Either stick a better fan in it (inline) with timer, which will suck 3 to 4 times better than existing, which should mitigate the problem.

Or, in previous property which was a new build, the flexible pipe in the loft space was joined to the vent in solid pipe with a u- bend and drain hole.
