Chaps
Now parking outside but using the car daily, leaving home at 5:45am to get the train to work.
I've been using some bubble wrap across the windscreen to ward off ice/frost so I can literally start the car and go, but is there a simple better solution than this?

Curious to know what others do.

thanks

Put latex gloves over the wing mirrors to make your getaway even faster - looks odd, mind,

Buy a Ford with a heated front screen. Our Mondeo Mk IV is fabulously swift. My 07 Fiesta with the older system is slower and more like a zebra crossing.

Other than that, I always just used a jug of warm water and a shower squeegee from a cheap shop as that stops it re-freezing.

I turn my seat heaters on and sit in the car for 3 mins listening to the radio.

Never understood the fuss really, watching my neighbours scraping away with frozen fingers always leaves me baffled.

3 mins ffs...

Hot water from the tap. Pour over frosted windows. Job done.

Just don't use boiling water.

Ive now got a heated windscreen but before I had I didnt see the point in all this scrapping business and just sat there often with a brew untill it had cleared.

As has been said its only a few mins

Fine in a modern car - you try that in my knackered old diesel Felicia with barely working blower motor....

It's a few extra minutes I can be lying in bed for though.

I filled a ten litre watering can with hot tap water today which did the job nicely. You need enough water so that the screen is warmed enough to prevent the water from refreezing straight away

Older / cheaper cars don't come up to temperature until the engine does, which is a lot longer than 3 minutes...

If I'm expecting frost, I park with the windscreen of the car where the boiler output flue is on the wall.

Makes a surprisingly good job of raising the air temp (albeit higher up on the wall than the windscreen) so by the time I'm up, out of the shower and dressed, a quick swish of the wipers shifts the softened frost nicely.

Gtechnic C2v2 works very well.

Water does not freeze on the screen.

Just put your wipers on and go.

Can be used on all surfaces on your car.

I never knew I needed a heated windscreen until the other day. It is this which has led to me deciding to keep my Mondeo over winter, it really is a good bit of kit smile

Roof off and just look over the top of the windscreen.
