Trailer for the game released today in Developer Direct.

Part of the Forza Monthly stream tomorrow will be talking about it.

500+ cars from launch, 100 of them new to FM games, new graphics, new sound, new tracks. Xbox Game Pass and Steam. I think it will probably be a late 2023 release, with lots of drip feed details online and at shows like E3 until then

I'm looking forward to it muchly, 7 came out in 2017, there have been 2 Horizon games since then, it will hopefully be good to get back to a Motorsport game.

But the Playground guys have to get the second Horizon 5 DLC out first. Not sure how a bunch of them leaving to form Maverick games and make their own racing game will affect that...

Saw Andy Forrest had one of his subaru's getting scanned for a game. Hoping it's this!

I got really excited watching that trailer, then remembered that I have a 2 year old girl and any time I spend on the Xbox these days is met by a telling off from the Mrs. She's never understood gaming, especially adults who game so it's been a constant battle that I've all but given up on.

Still, I'll download the game and if I get the odd half hour or so I'll jump on it.

I always thought the sound in Forza was the most impressive thing. I have GT7 and every car sounds tin can like. I remember doing a race in Forza on LM cars and it felt like I was genuinely in the middle of a pack of race cars, not next to someone with a synthesiser.

I do have to say that it'll be tough to beat GT7's drying race circuit physics (although the rain comes in a little too fast)

If this runs on Steam Deck (even at 40fps with lowest graphic settings) my life will be complete!

Roger Clark have just had Gobstopper 2 done as well so fingers crossed for a Time Attack pack or something

I'm not convinced that it's going to be leaps and bounds better than any previous games in the Forza Motorsport series (although I hope I'm wrong).

I made the jump to PC last year, and while I'm enjoying the extra functionality not seen in console games (mainly mods and actual sims), I still go back to Xbox to race with a group of guys I've known for years. This new Forza should have cross compatibility though so I think PC gaming should offer the best of both works. My PC isn't the best but 1440p is good enough for me. I just wish they'd support ultrawide.

Lots and lots of marketing bullst in the latest video. I expect in reality it will feel very similar to FM7. I'm interested though as I've upgraded my PC recently and should be able to make use of the graphics updates. Hope the AI is a bit more intelligent this time round.

Ooh, every day is a school day. I just presumed that because Xbox doesn't support it that the PC versions wouldn't either.

It's funny, every time a new Forza game is released I play it death and then realise it's just the same as the last one basically, and never get round to finishing it completely as I get bored. I always say nah, I won't get the next one.

Then the new one gets announced and I still get silly excited over it biggrin Can't wait to play this, but the steering physics with a wheel need to be massively improved as I felt that 6 & 7 were always so much more natural with a pad than a wheel, and that's not what I want going forward.

Yeah thought the same. Not the end of the world though, FM7 felt better than the other console-based offerings IMO so a similar handling model with updates tyre model/car database would give me a reason to upgrade to Xbox Series X or whatever the latest console is.

D'oh, was Roger Clark I was thinking of. Too many silly fast Subaru's!

I've only ever played the Horizon games. If there are no stupid little side games like Mexican wrestling-themed races and Hot Wheels, then I might give this a go.

The motorsport titles have only ever been pure racing. There may have been some fun options for online play like car football or skittles if I remember correctly and not mixing it up with Horizons but they are totally optional

I'm also looking forward to this but I hope they do something with career mode, FM7 was a bit all over the place. I'd like a return to the old format where you started off with something very slow and progressed your way through the various specs/series upgrading your car as you went and only needing to buy a new one occasionally. With FM7 it seemed you needed 25 cars by the 5th race with not much emphasis on sticking with one. Don't get me wrong I do love collecting the various cars but it would be great to have more of a progression system.

Also, I'm disappointed it appears that there are ALOT of car models still not upgraded from FM1. They've had enough time to do this and some of them are looking really dated now.

Nothing (in my opinion) comes close to Forza in terms of handling via a standard joypad, so I hope this continues that trend. Used to be quite competitive online and on leaderboards using the XBox pad, they really have nailed the sweetspot between simulation aspects and making it accessible without a full sim rig.

I think that started as a Top Gear DLC with Dunsfold track and some SIARPC cars.

From the trailer, and the number of times they feel the need to stress "from the ground up" I expect nothing revolutionary! We will still be able to trace some Forza 1 (and good chunk of Forza 2, which has been in all subsequent games) DNA.

This is fine with me: Physics have remained largely unchanged since 2, though I got on better with the first game. There's only so much you can do in a racing game: I like the "almost sim" physics. There's enough depth, but you can still play on your sofa with a controller.

They normally remove a few cars, add in some more. Similar for tracks, then maybe add in some new features like weather. The menu systems etc get needlessly rearranged, often into an inefficient mess. I am still not sold on the increased emphasis on division (as opposed to class/PI) they introduced with forza 7, which means you end up with lots of homologated cars, mid class that are only useful for the division, but I can't save tunes because I've reach the total number I can save?!
