The drivers side door mirror on my 95 Chimaera has dropped off and is only held on by the electric wires! Two questions for the well informed out there -
1. Can anyone help me source a new mirror
2. Is it an easy D.I.Y. job? It looks a difficult job?
The actual support is exposed and I can't see how the mirror is secured to the mount!
Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

Big Al.

Do a search (I think it's up and running now) either on the Chim OR Griff forumsit does happen periodically. Might also find a similar question in the FAQ's.

Thanks CrazyCraig + Big Al for your responses. Will try your suggestions. I will tell you how I get on. You mentioned the same thing had happened to you. Did you fix it on yourself?
Having read Sprint I saw an advert for Bell Hill Garage - apparently they have lots of spares for TVR's?

Thanks Roy The Boy- those links were great! As I'm a novice with the mirror problem I'm just checking which part I actually need? The mirror has broken off the tripod. The plate on top of the tripod has come away with a plastic washer and metal plate above it. The mirror itself has a piece of plate on it. Do I just need an internal frame as shown in computermarket? As a temporary measure I have placed a nail in the hole in the top of the tripod and then drilled a hole into the middle of the mirror glued it and slotted the mirror onto the nail. It seems to work but think it may be a short term solution!?

Well if your mirror/door is like the first picture in this post

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=192483

then I'd say you need a new internal frame.

But if the mirror looks like mine (some muppet broke it off last weekend ) as in the pictures on this link

http://int.pixum.com/viewalbum/?id=20

then I'd say you need a new mounting tripod. If you look at the third picture, you can see how the broken bit is actually the remains of my tripod, which is designed to break on impact apparently. From your description I reckon yours may have broken in the same way.

I was lucky that I was given a spare mirror, albeit a manual one, by the chap I bought the car from and I've managed to swap the electrical bits over. Just thinking about having it resprayed now.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Roy the boy - the info you gave was brill - pics helped - thanks. I am going to contact Oz computers and order internal frame. I hope that solves it! Take it I have to access the dreaded grommet to fix frame onto tripod? Taking car to South France in Summer so will have to sort it properly mind will only need passenger mirror there!! Bet you were p... off when you found your mirror hanging.
