Hola Ladies/Gents...

I never waltz over to the JC forum unfortunately but today i have (for rather selfish reasons i must admit). Hopefully intend to become a regular round these parts.

Anyway...Looking to buy a Pajero/Shogun in the coming month or two and basically would like to hear your experiences on everything thus far that you've had to deal with on your Pajero.

Now currently im set to go for 2.8TDi Exceed import. WIth a budget of about 2k to spare, not much i know!! But it seems do-able if i find the right one? I seem to be seeing plenty which go for well under 2k so before i go spending it on a potentially dudd one for that amount of money, i'd like to know whether im being unrealistic or should it be ok?

It will be used very rarely...I'd intend to give it a run each weekend to stretch its legs. Nothing major. Maybe like an hr's drive each week. But it's main purpose will be for when I take the family around the UK/Europe on mini trips over the coming years.

Any thoughts/experiences are much appreciated! Cheers!

Oh & to add...I'm up for a Shogun too. But again, would like to know more about perks and quirks.

I bought a 1989 LWB 2.5 intercooler in July last year for £1k with 119,000 Kilometres on the clock, have put about 7000km on it since and it hasn't missed a beat. If I'm totally honest its way overdue it's service, especially an oil change (which reminds me that I must get onto that today!) but is still running sweet. Starts first time every morning, even them -4/-5 mornings we were having a few weeks back.

I use it for most of the week, commuting, errands etc, I have 'another' car which I use for the commute once a week and fooling around at the weekend, the rest of the time it's always the pajero. I have a horse so in the next couple of months it'll be towing 3/4 times a month, I have towed in it previously and it did so very well.

Overall I think it's a rock solid vehicle and if you're talking about doing such low mileage I'd go for an older model with lower miles rather than a newer on with high mileage and you should have very little trouble, if any.

PM me with an other Q's if you like
