I bought an 04 Cooper S in March and love it, but felt the need to personalise it. It's dark silver so I fancied some chrome mirror covers and a chrome bonnet scoop. Having a natural aversion to al main dealers, I searched out alternative suppliers and checked out censored. Their website advertises the parts - mirror covers £58.62 and bonnet scoop £50.09. Fine, sounds cheaper than a main dealer so I give them a call. Bloke I spoke to is a it curt to say the least, but maybe that's 'cos I'm from Yorkshire and he was from Lanchasire. However, over the phone I'm charged £64.60 for the mirror covers and £62.99 for the bonnet scoop. Maybe the pricing is different if you order from the net so I go with it?! Total bill £159.92 including shipping.

Parts arrive the next day, very impressive, but on opening the box the "Made in Taiwan" starts to give things away. The parts are not original Mini items and instead of replacing the original parts they are designed to stick over them with double sided sticky tape!! Not impressed. To be fair the censored website does not say these are genuine parts, but neither does it say they are not. I then rang BMW and genuine Mini parts are £69.90 for the mirrors and £69.95 for the scoop. My local Mini dealer is five minutes away so by now I would have had genuine parts for £139.85.

So, I ring censored to enquire how to return the parts. The rudeness factor goes up a notch and without any question as to the reason why I am told to return them with a letter explaining my reasons. I did this the same day. The parts were returned on 18th March at a cost of £7.75 and they were delivered to censored on 19th March, the day before Good Friday. I never expected a refund over Easter weekend so forgot about it for a while. By the end of the following week my credit card had still not been refunded so I gave them a call. The girl who normally does the refunds had been off sick so it would be done the week after. Week after and three phone calls later, still no refund. I was finally made a promise on Friday 4th April (the fifth phone call) that the refund would be actioned that day. It wasn't. The final call I made was on 9th April and I insisted that the refund be done there and then. After all if they can process a card over the phone when making a sale then surely they can process the card over the phone for a refund.

Today, Friday 11th April, the refund appears in my bank. However, not the £159.92 I originally paid, but £149.92.

To be honest, I can't be arsed to chase the last tenner, let alone the additional postage I had to pay to return the goods, but my advice - don't use censored.
