I have some experience in this field.
I used to work for USC (high street clothing retailer), and although not directly involved with the EPOS systems, you got to brush shoulders with the guys that did it.
From what i seen they were employed in tiers, 1st, 2nd and 3rd line. Duties would vary from turning up, unpacking EPOS' and switching them on, checking that everything was OK, to re-building the EPOS systems using images pre-built somewhere else.
You will also probably have to deal with chip n pin systems.
I think!

EPOS Electronic Point of Sale System which is infact chip and pin systems.
Will involve field instalations, fixes from software to hardware, swapouts and showing the customer how to use the device.
Last year I also applied for a job installing and maintaining these systems, to which I got offered but for me the contract and pay I was offered was terrible. Just so you know I believe they will credit check your background.
Mine was with a company that deals with a well known bank, the company was infact a different name to which you pretended to be I guess the manufacture if that makes sence?
As stated trouble I found was they offered me a rate around £6 an hour, then the contract was self employed on a 3month rolling. You'd also have to go under an umbrella corp to finally get you pay and no private mileage of van with tracker installed. Hours seemed long and they cover from outside your doorstep more like you had to travel an hour before they started paying you. Like many companies they take pride in what they have and I was shown this £700 odd phone that incorporated a barcode reader for device swap outs, yet from what I understold like before staff mean nothing and so turned it down.
Becareful.
