Someone I know is having a spot of bother with three or four darling teenagers (15/16 year olds) who knock on his front door and shout abuse at him when he opens it. They even grab handfuls of stones/mud and throw it at him & the house etc. He is married with two kids - perfectly normal chap who doesn't need this bother.
He thinks it all stems back to when he told one of them off for ripping up someones picket fence.
He has called the police...who have done nothing - obviously.
His next move is to follow them home, find out where they live and have a chat with their parents.

Anyone been in a similar situation who can offer some advice on a successful outcome? He doesn't really want to beat them with a baseball bat for fear of getting in trouble with the police (which is crazy, but that's the world we live in rolleyes )

I would certainly set up a video camera on his house, its visual evidence of their provocation at least? Might be worth asking some mates to come over to his house and wait for the lads, purely as back up?

Don't open the door. They want him to do that. When he opens the door and shakes his fist or whatever, that's the excitement of it all.

Surely so would following them home?

Soon you will be able to call the equivelent of the A-Team.

I don't see any alternative but hired vigilanties, no one else will do anything.

Short of having some untraceable 'friends' who will appear when they are doing this, utterly (physically) destroy them (no permament harm), and teach them that there are bigger, uglier things out there in the world (in other words teach them a pecking order for the first time in their lives)....

Man up and call them out one by one? Packs are boring - let those with the biggest 'stones' fight?

Shotgun/rocksalt?

CCTV, hightened security (electrified) fences?

Hire external security, with dogs?

Exactly. Teenagers have short attention spans, if they don't get what they want, they will move on to find something else more amusing to them.

Well worth the CCTV or even a sign saying it's in operation to make them think their actions are being
recorded.

Tell him to inform his local press and tell them that his local police force will have another Barwell,Leicestershire case on their hands if they don't pull their fingers out...

Don't open the door. Go around the back, and catch them unawares. With a bucket of piss.

Dump cold water on them from upstairs window? It's great weather to be soaked in cold water. Ok, maybe not.

Problem is that this sort of thing happens all the time and some poor sod just has to put up with it cos the police are useless at dealing with this kind of thing. I don't know if ignoring them will help. They might step it up.

Tell your friend to write to their MP, explaining what has been going on and that the police have done nothing to alleviate the situation. I did this on behalf of a neighbour whom was having much the same problem with a gang of lads.

To be honest, I did not have great expectations of an outcome, so was surprised when the Chief Inspector phoned to make an appointment to discus the situation. The meeting went well and, the police made frequent rounds of the area, harassing the lads until they 'got the message' to move on. The neighbour has had no trouble since.

If it were me, I'd get 2 or 3 of my biggest, scariest, crazy, psychopathic (you get the point) looking friends to answer the door the next time they come round... and simply ask them in as agressive a manner as they can what the fk the chavs want and tell them to fk off...

At least this wat there's no risk of anyone getting put in prison and the chavs getting the satisfaction of getting your mate arrested / charged.

I always wondered if writing to one's MP about this would have an effect so thanks for posting this. smile
