Advice required!

I was working last night on my laptop. Went into Outlook Express, looked at inbox, then went to sent messages to check something. Hit 'send + recieve' which then downloaded 4 messages, and the tab on the left showed 4 new messages in my inbox.

I then went to the inbox where the 4 new messages were, but the other 30 or so in there had dissappeard!!

I've checked all the other folders, and the recycle box on the cimputer but completely stumped!!!

Any help much appreciated!

Is your laptop your main computer? Could you have automatically downloaded the messages to another PC and cleared them off the main server by doing so?

Outlook Express 6
Windows XP (I think)

Laptop is my only computer. I can however download/read unread emails online- Blueyonder/ Virgin email account. Once they are downloaded into Oulook Exp, I can't then access them online.

I'm the only laptop user, and only have once logon/ user.

I don't use Outlook Express, so I don't know - but does it have a "hide viewed messages" option somewhere that you might have checked by accident?

Check to see if they still exist. Open outlook, tools, options, maintenance, store folder.
This will give you the address of your email storage folder, come out of outlook, navigate to the folder and open it to see if they actually exist. If they do then god knows whats happening!(you could try retyping the folder adress). If they dont then it sounds like it has lost its path to the original folder and has created a new one. To get them back you will have to change the store folder in outlook back to what ever it was before. To find this will take some searching!

Follow the path from my earlier post and when you get to folder store, type in the path/name of the original folder. You'll need to copy the emails from the new folder across to the original folder if you also want these to show.
