I have about 8 yrs experience managing Linux servers and networking in commercial environments. Seemingly the only roles I can seem to get into are LAMP roles, and I don't really want to do development forever. wink

I want to get into more security based roles, something leading to SC or consultancy, but I'm not sure where to start researching.. Any ideas?

I'm only seeing contract roles with SC, which need you to have it before you start. Struggling to find perm stuff frown

Erm. Perhaps try searching for MOD or similar if there's a particular area you're after. I guess there may be roles that might provide the opportunity to move to security cleared positions internally, but if the role itself requires clearance it tends to be advertised as such.

Not sure there's much else you can do if that doesn't turn up anything, I suspect they're just not hiring much at the moment.

Do you mean network security / penetration testing / etc.?

How good a hacker are you? If you take a whitehat job and make any name for yourself, you'll be targeted by the blackhats and you'll face a never-ending onslaught of assaults on your personal networks...

Yeah something like that. Security auditing and the like? Maybe code testing / validation too. Preferably not high profile enough to become a target, but enough to get a job or consultancy doing it wink
