S2 Thermostat query

Can you tell me where the water thermostat is on a 2.9 Cologne engined S2 1990 please? My Ford dealer reckoned it wasn't where it should be. Can they be fitted by a bloke like me of limited mechanical ability or best left to who? Can anybody recommend a good independent workshop in the North Staffordshire/South Cheshire region? Thanks.
Ummm. Thank you for your replies. Seems I could easily get myself into a bit of bother if the bolts shear. I can just see it..Murphy running full tilt towards me. You make me wonder tho' if i do indeed have a thermostat. It takes 4-5 miles to come to temperature and then sits there with the fan cutting in and out. Why would somebody want to remove the thing?
