Having spent some time discussing moving back to the Westcountry on an earlier PH thread, I'm finally about to do it. We're moving to Combe St Nicholas (in between Chard and Ilminster) later this week. I thought I'd say hello and see if there was anyone else in the area?

I grew up in East Devon and went to school in Somerset, so I know my way around fairly well already. That said, it's a bit different coming back as a grown up.

I think our first port of call is the Fleet Air Arm Museum. My two-year old is obsessed with planes, but he's never actually seen one on the ground, so it's a bit like that Father Ted sketch with the cows: I'm not sure he realises that they're big and far away. Haynes Motor Museum is also on the list (last time I was there I was 19, doing a car club sprint on the little test track out the back!)

I'm in Taunton but we spend a lot of time in East Devon - I grew up in Worcestershire so part of the novelty for me is the ability to strike out to Sidmouth, Lyme, Exmouth etc. Still hasn't worn off after 6+ years!

Best of luck with the move.
Thanks. Noticed you're a mountain biker - might have to have a chat about trails! Used to be a very keen MTBer and I've vowed to get back into it. Spent this morning packing my bike very, very carefully for its trip in the removal lorry tomorrow. smile

Cheers gents.

A couple of random car-related questions: Does anyone know of an independent Alfa garage around South West Somerset? (I found a reference to one in Ilminster on an old thread, but I think that might be outdated information...)

Also, I quite fancy having a go at some club-level motorsport. Something low-cost and informal like auto solos. Can anyone recommend any motor clubs in the same area? Windwhistle seems to be the nearest one, but it looks like they're more into trials.

Hi Chris and welcome. I'm near Honiton so not too far away. I notice you have a chim .. recommend Colin Apps in Wellington Jon
Hiya. Funnily enough, my Chim has already spent some time at TVRSSW. When the engine blew up abroad we had the car shipped back to my dad's place in East Devon with the intention of swapping it ourselves. Managed to remove the old engine (in a farmyard, with rain water trickling down my back...) then gave in and sent it to Colin for installation.

It's broken again currently and appears to have taken up semi-permanent residence at the local TVR specialist near where I've just moved from. They've taken so long to fix it, I'm seriously contemplating having it shipped to TVRSSW on a flat bed.

Either way, I'm sure it'll end up there at some stage before too long. biggrin

Hi Chris, you won't go wrong using Colin at TVRSSW.

Colin has maintained and upgraded my car since I bought it.

If you need to get your car transported give TVRSSW a call, they have a guy they use all the time for transporting TVRs.
