Legal advice needed - Scrapping a Car

So it's my name on the log book
I have another car that uses the same components

I want to take engine, gearbox, wheels off
but now I've read it HAS to go to a recycling centre
to be legally disposed of ?

I was going to chop it up (separate chassis)
and just let the scrap boys that come around the street have it for the metal?

But after reading I need a certificate of destruction for/from dvla I've put my self on stop ....
until I know more
oh I don't need the number plate.

Any thoughts ....
