There are some pretty mental numbers jobs going in Saudi at the moment mostly around NEOM.

Anyone doing it? Have you gone mad yet?

unless you are exec roles the money seems to be 130% of what you are on in the UK, with no tax.

If you are exec, then its 500k - £2m

you go there to change your life financially,

first year pays off the mortgage, year two sorts the kids school fees, then you leave.

if you bagged a senior role on 400k, maybe spend 50k?? of it, but your taking back 350k a year in cash which would be pretty tasty.

ahhhh, this is where you mark yourself out as someone who wouldn't survive in the middle east.

The idea here, is that you, the overseas consultant, will need to learn is that nothing in the end will actually work, a load of locals / indians will mess up something at all points, political and wasta decision making will come into play and the time lines for anything being finished will be tripled, if it ever gets finished.

I wouldn't worry about being able to commission a system, as it wont ever get built.

my family have been in the middle east 45 years, you get used to it.

dump the family in doha / Oman / Abu D. You live on camp and fly home at the weekend i think is the easiest way top keep everyone sane.

The line (Neom) madness scaled back, and I would not be suprised if it turns out be a small canyon at the end. I've got some friends who had projects there, they are still going (housing and etc..) but recently their payments were also in delay. A few well known consultancies also made rounds of redundancies, so some serious cut*backs on the mad ideas, whoever got in first though so far, got paid handsomely and come back with a good smile at least.
I think the line, Trojena and oxygen wont get built (finished), Sindalah will, Magnas 12 the easier ones will get finished, the crazy ones wont.

The neom team are being pushed hard to get others outside of saudi to invest into it, but as you can imagine not many bites to go build a hotel in Tthe desert when the basic infrastructure isnt done.
