Unfortunately, my father in law's Rolex was stolen in the early hours of Saturday morning, from a house in Sutton Coldfield.

I've included an image below. I'd be very grateful for any information if any of you come across it, and for any advice on how best to approach recovering/flagging stolen watches. We have found 'thewatchregister.com' and intend to upload details and the serial number there... is there anything else we should be doing?

Really sad. Hope it gets recovered.

To help the rest of us avoid a similar fate, can you share some details?

Was he in? How easy was it to locate? Was it insured? Targeted do you think, or did they get lucky?
It was a burglary, and it appears the house was targeted, rather than the watch (which rarely sees the light of day). They were out at the time, but had taken all the right precautions (good alarm, safe etc.), but the burglars seem to have known what they were doing, and they were very thorough in searching for valuables. It looks likely that they were a gang who has been operating in the area over the past few weeks, as a few other houses were hit too. There don't seem to be any obvious things to learn unfortunately -- if someone wants your possessions badly enough they'll find a way -- but keeping up to date with any other burglaries in the area, and having a security expert check over your home security once in a while can't be a bad idea.
