ir repeaters?

Its been years since i have tampered with this sort of thing and i just cant remember how it all works.

Wanting to have all equipment hidden away on the other side of the room. Nothing too exciting, avr, dvd, sky q box.

Would something like this be what i need?

Am i right in assuming that the one i need to control would be connected to the receiver?

It would be about 7m away and none of the kits ive seen seem to have any mention of the main ir cable length.

Then the others just connect into the devices? but surely they need a line of sight?

So i cant see how it would work.

Any other (simple) ideas?

And yes you are right i will have just one hdmi cable from tv to avr.

So really all i would use will be the sky remote (which is ok anywhere with sky q) and the avr remote. So really i just need one ir repeater.
