Anyone watch Goonzquad ?
Initially I was like "God these two twerps are very annoying", but been watching them for years, once you get past some of the schtick (Dan son, Yessir etc) and see the skills, work ethic and imagination you get drawn in, they have done very well and do seem nice lads, their parents join in as well. Nice to see the progression and variety, sometimes its cars, then they get onto building their houses or a their "shop".
What I cant understand is that they give away some epic prizes, fancy truck and 30 grand cash, Rolexes in random merch orders, does anyone know how the economics of that work ?
I've watched them on and off for a few years, I think when they had a 458 a few years back?Initially I was like "God these two twerps are very annoying", but been watching them for years, once you get past some of the schtick (Dan son, Yessir etc) and see the skills, work ethic and imagination you get drawn in, they have done very well and do seem nice lads, their parents join in as well. The Senna really is a big project, the money involved in seemingly innocuous panels etc. As with all youtubers, certain stuff is annoying with them but they seem to want to do a good job which is good.

Anyone else really finding the OG Youtubers are really boring these days?
STG / Tim mainly (SoL fell off the wagon a long time ago).
They just don't hold my attention any more.
I tried STGs last few videos (Hurrican in the Desert and 12 Cilindri) and I find them light, self indugent and slow paced.
Tim seems to be focused on these ultra long and slow second channel videos at the moment which just don't hold my attention.
Have they had their day? Or are we just all so hooked on fast paced super car rebuilds?
It seems to have been a very long time since Shmee (the OG of this thread) was mentioned. Last video was 11 days ago, one of his highest views for a while at 450k buying a Corvette ZR1 (nice choice). One of his highest view counts in the last 6 months is a 'Lamborghin racecar Vs Mcdonalds Drive Thru' at 576k views.STG / Tim mainly (SoL fell off the wagon a long time ago).

It really is interesting to see the difference in view counts between a legacy Youtuber like Tim vs Mat
Mat 30 day view count - 25m+ views (490 videos total) - 130k extra subs
Shmee 30 day view count - 6m+ views (5383 videos total) - 10k extra subs
Mat really is absolutely killing it when you do comparisons like that. I would still say Tim is the most enduring and popular of the 'old school' but the new boys are pulling insane numbers.....

I also quite like Shmee's new Ferrari, punchy spec but it's nice
STG has bought a Project 8, thing sounds absolutely insane

crap Audi
It was a TTS wasn t it? Crap audi

He had a TTS when he started YouTube, you said he had a crap Audi, I disagreed.
The fact he is a member of the aristocracy doesn’t really have any bearing on anything except that he hasn’t likely had to worry about YouTube not working out and having to work in McDonald’s to pay his mortgage.
I don’t watch the guy, never have, he’s never interested me.

But you have no idea about his finances. No idea why you think he wouldn t have to worry about it money if it didn t work, you have no basis for this.
He s the son of a multimillionaire and heir presumptive to the title of Earl of Westmorland. Call it an educated guess
Again, I ve not badmouthed him, you said he had a crap Audi, I disagreed with you on that point.
The rest is conjecture and mostly irrelevant, he, like Shmee got in at a fantastic time, rode a wave of money and did well off it, Shmee even more so.
They are both massively eclipsed by new talent like Mat Armstrong who seems to have tapped even better into the vein of the YT algorithm and as I ve said beige, STG, Shmee et al must look at the numbers MA pulls in a feel a bit sick that they aren t getting those view numbers ..

His situation has been discussed multiple times on here over the years, good for you to be white knighting for him, sure he appreciates it. Well done

They didn t get in at a fantastic time - they created the genre as a group.
I m sure that statement will get a lot of the high blood pressure gammon types in here all riled up, but it s true.
Well yes, they did, but also they got in at a fantastic time, YouTube in the early days, less competition, eager eyeballs for new content, money being thrown at it by advertisers.I m sure that statement will get a lot of the high blood pressure gammon types in here all riled up, but it s true.
The world is different now, the market is smaller, would the same content creators even get off the ground in 2025? Arguably no.

Just very boring on this thread when people like the guy above, who seems to have a fetish for clown emojis, comes out with same out unsubstantiated drivel every few weeks.
That s all for now until this comes up again.
I literally questioned you on your ‘crap Audi’ comments That s all for now until this comes up again.

Here, have another

Can’t wait to hear your fantastic thoughts next time it comes up, 10/10, no notes, would recommend.
