So I just watched TRON: Legacy and didn't really get it.

Is there anything more to it than guy goes into digital world, finds dad, finds girl, comes back out with girl while dad saves the day. Seems like something from Jonny Quest

I haven't watched the original Tron, so I am unsure if I am missing something from that.

You are missing the point. I watched it three times as I enjoyed it that much, and kept noticing more details each time.

If you don't like the plot, I advise you don't watch movies. Most of them have a plot that's been done 1000's time before.
The visuals and sound kept my attention - so I did enjoy watching it.

But after that ...

Since you are such as expert, how about actually answering the question and letting me share in the level of enjoyment that you seem to have achieved from this movie.

As for the plot, it is what it is .... It's how extra layers are wrapped around the core that makes the movie.

Watch the original before watching this
Thanks.

Too late for that. But I'll try to watch it now.

This reminds me of the original Tron legacy thread where everyone said how bad it was before mentioning they hadn't seen ther original and had no idea what was happening in it. I've always wondered why people watch sequels without seeing the original.
Is it a true sequel, starting off where the original stopped ?

The main reason why I didn't watch the original one is because I am not normally in the habit of watching sci-fi movies from before my birth - they tend to disappoint (with the very rare exception).

Damn.

Those are good movies - have seen most of them and enjoyed them. Noted a few to be watched in the near future. Didn't realise some of them were that early. They were sort of before I really got into my movies and so I hadn't really registered year of release/production.

But still except for 1 or 2, they are all after the year of my birth.

I like my stuff in HD, visual effects that are not too obvious - some of the early stuff don't deliver in that respect - Aliens, Terminator, etc do.

I will get the original Tron and give it a go. If I don't like it, I promise not to post here wink
