An uninsured driver has had his £90,000 Ferrari seized by police.

The 40-year-old motorist was given a £60 fixed penalty notice, six points on his licence, and faces a £200 fine.

But if he fails to produce valid insurance documents within a set time, the Modena convertible could be auctioned off, with West Yorkshire Police retaining any proceeds, or it could even be destroyed.

Officers in the West Yorkshire ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) Intercept Team made 15 arrests and seized 17 cars, including the 190mph supercar, during the operation.

It was part of a continuing effort to target burglars travelling between Bradford and Leeds to commit crime focussing on Killinghall Road, Leeds Road and Barkerend Road, the A650 corridor and Holme Wood.
