Unsuccessful Withdrawal of Cash at ATM but Money debited...

Tried to withdraw £100 on sunday morning, machine whurred like normal but did not give me my money.
When the shop opened I went in and they said it had run out of money but they dont operate the machine themselves
Went in my bank just now and they said they have to send someone from head office to request the machine be balanced and this could take up to 10 days
Anyone had anything similar? how long did it take and what was the outcome?
