Disposing of old coins - foreign and old-style GB decimal
Discussion
Hi guys.
The Finance forum seems to be the closest in relevance for this query.
Clearing out the house of a late relative we found a box containing quite a lot of British decimal coins, of the older type, ie large 2p, large 5p and 10p (same size as old shillings and two-bob pieces - remember them?).
Then there's another box, containing a mixture of foreign coins - all pre-Euro, and some from non-European countries.
My question is: what is the best way of disposing of them?
Seems a shame to just bin them (which might, in any case, be illegal for all I know). Is there some way that their original intrinsic value can find its way into a charity's coffers?
Or are there collectors out there who would take them off my hands?
Thanks for any suggestions, folks, and have a nice weekend.
