We're in the middle of a bit of a refit so could do with some advice.

We're in need of a new kitchen but I'm going mad. We've got builders in and they are taking out a wall so we'll have a long and fairly wide room. I've had 3 designs done and they all come back more or less the same, but I've no idea if the costs are coming up right.

The room will have units on 2, maybe three walls. The longest run is just over 16 foot by 6.5 (room is another 3/4 foot longer but the back door/window takes up the rest) and is made up of about 16 units. We just want plain gloss white and the units are coming in at about £3500 (though that includes all the fixing kits etc to mount the in built appliances, two corner units and two larder units, sink and taps). Does this sound about right?

I'm banking on appliances coming in about £2500 for decent spec AEG/NEFF/Bosch stuff (F/F, double oven, hob, dishwasher, extractor). Seem reasonable?

Also, what on earth to get for a surface? We don't want wood (been there, done that, never again) and we both love the quartz stuff, but the quote for that is about £2500-3000 which is a bit much, though does include a breakfast bar as well. The equivalent of that in laminate is coming in at about £500, so does anyone know any decent laminates? I've not found a decent one online anywhere!

Fitting - been quoted £1500, which seems a bit much but welcome comments.

I'll post some pics up once we get it all sorted, house is in all sorts of mess at the moment!
