Well, it's been a poor summer, I'm sure it will now be a poor winter too.

Snow has settled on Cairngorm.

Wasn't it over 30 degrees this time last year?

Certainly chilly these last few days but I'll take it if it means we see a bit more of the sun.
It was definitely warm in September, our kitten had a broken leg and we had to keep her in a dog cage. We were putting her outside a lot.

Explains why she is attempting to send mice and voles to extinction...

Amber rain warning overnight for southern Midlands area, yellow warning for most of England. Sigh.

Puggit, I need your best crystal ball effort......is it worth me travelling to Lord's tomorrow.....BBC/iPhone app/met office giving me very conflicting information.
Looking at the pressure map, I would say yes. A cold, dry northerly once any early rain clears.

Never trust the BBC forecast, it's up to 24 hours out of date.

Met office prediction for London backs that up: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/gcpv...

Any chance of catching the remnants of Isaac? It feels like years since we've had a big autumn storm.
Current trajectory makes it look unlikely.

This is a good thing, I have a 5.5 hour cross channel ferry on Tuesday!

Sit rep in the Loire Valley...

Too hot for gardening. Thermometer says 13 but the sun is fierce and I'm a sweating freak.

Headsup... Fortunately hurricane forecasts this far out tend to be very wrong, however we can probably count on it boomeranging in our general direction.

On my phone, struggling with the image, but Kirk to hit Isle of Wight on Wednesday is the latest.

Going to be wet, very, very wet.

As you can see in the image above (which has updated) - Kirk is now due to hit France. Pretty much a direct hit on our house there. Glad I took down a dead tree last week that was threatening one of our outbuildings!

I think southern counties in England might still see some limited effects (rainfall) - but we'll see.

On the topic of hurricanes, Florida about to be slammed by Milton.

Milton is one of the strongest ever recorded hurricanes, storm surge of 15 feet forecast. Obviously there isn't much of Florida that's 15 feet high!
