COPD information please.

I went for my COPD check yesterday, blew into the 'spirometer' thing and then the computer whirred and banged and said my FEV had gone down from 5. something to 4.something. I can assume that this means I am worse than this time last year (I am) but I don't know what this really means: is 'death's door' opening with the 'Grim Reaper' hiding behind it or something less terminal?

Please help quickly as I may expire before my due date (or tomorrow - whichever comes sooner)/
