Hi all,

Can't believe it, I bought a Focus RS and it broke down already. Thing is I got it second hand so I can't really go back to the first bloke can I and start shouting the odds, nor do Ford want to know unless I fork out major £££ to sort this out. Why isn't it free if they put something on the road that don't work. Anyone got any ideas? I can't believe it this is totally doing my nut in!!!! I won't buy a Ford again nor do I advocate anyone else does so either tbh it's been a nightmare.

Can anyone recommend if I'm able to force teh original bloke to take the car back if it breaks down so quick, I didn't know Fords have a problem with the engines until now where I see videos on youtube where they show that EVERY RS is going to blow up sooner or later and feel like I've been conned. Can't find anything online.

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick responses, it's under warranty as it's a 2016 plate but I don't have the warranty documentation.

Thanks for the sensible replies, dunno why some people have had a pop but some good helpful people so thank you!!

So yes it has been modded that's part of the prob cus I was told that mods are covered under warranty but now they are saying only mountune mods are covered under warranty. I went back to see the bloke yesterday (had to take the bus lol) and said ur taking me for a joker and he said its ford who are the jokers!

ANyway now I have to go and get it repaired indapendentlee but after I had a go at him he said he will pay half teh repair costs depending on how much it is so that good. So warning is stay awy from this RS it is doing my nut in already especially if it turns out that they go all jellied eel on the warranty trying to slide out of it! This is my inheritance that I wanted to put down on a proper hot hatch and enjoy good car and now Im regrettin it tbh when this is sorted out I might flog it and just get something else but at least I can laugh a bit cus I'm only paying half repairs and I got cheap deal I think so fairs fair.

Thank you everyone but please be careful about Ford! And this RS!

Why. Please tell me why. I ask nicely. ALl Ive done is get conned on a car so that makes me a dick does it lol jokes. Ford should be ashamed of themselves cant believe this is turning in to me you are blaming me the person who bought the car rather than the jokers who made the car. Youre the joke mate.

So if I go to the pet shop, buy a puppy and give it some E so that it has a heart attack and dies, it's the pet shops fault is it?

You've (rightly or wrongly) bought a car that has been fundamentally changed beyond the spec and tolerances set by Ford and you expect them to bail you out and foot the bill. wow.......
The only wow thing is you thinking that comparison makes sense. Your not supposed to give a dog jingle biscuits you joker! But tuning a car isnt that half the point especially a performance car! The RS should come with a warning hello everyone this is supposed to be the daddy of performance but if you do anything to it the slightest thing itll void the warranty and ford will go running off jesus.

BTW theres enough people online who have hadp roblems without any mods so what does that prove.?

Jeff you are what I like to refer to as a bellend!

It is not fords problem you have a modified car with a broken engine so stop whining about it and take it somewhere that will fix it for you for a fee!

Other than that sell it to someone who is willing to fix it
RIght a few problems with your post mate without even getting it to the bellend bit

I didnt mod the car myself I was sold it already modded. the bloke has tried to put a machine in it to fix it and it didnt work thats why he is now saying he's done his bit when he hasnt as far as im concerned. Do i have a working car no.

The car is under guaratee as others have said on here which should be obvious anyway so why should i have to fix it. Yes its been modded so what, where does it end with mods then if I change tyres does that mean that they wont fix my car? If I change the gear nob does that mean they wont fix my car. I havent seen any rules or terms and conditions so dont know why everyone is sticking up for ford on here when there is loads of people online who havent modded anything saything they have a problem as well.

Plus I cant afford a lawyer on this so that options out lol.

What's wrong with the car is that it dont work. It was modded before I got it and yes not the mountune which is why ford are now taking me for a joker. I don't see why everyone is taking ford side on this, they built a car that dont work if it gets modded. LIke i said before I get the feeling if I changed the gear nob theyd kick off and say the warranty was broke, its ridiculous.

Gonna have to get a loan to fix it then flog the sodding thing, joke ford joke. Dont buy it.

Stone me how many more times do I have to say it, I don't know what mod was done cus the bloke I bought it off wont tell me. As far as Im concerned a car either works or it dont so when i say its not working that is what I mean!! Ford wont tell me what mod has been done, anyway it dont matter so much now because like I said before in amongst all this mickey taking I know I need to sort it out Im just warning other people what ford will do with one of their so called performance cars if you come in with it having tuned it lol.

Imagine having a shotgun and taking it to the makers saying its broke and theyre like well did you fire it? Oh well if you did then no we cant possibly help with that.

Imagine going to a pub buying a drink adn theyre like oh no well if you ask for the whole point of the pub then we cant possibly give it to you.

DO NOT BUY A FORD PERFORMANCE CAR IF YOU WANT TO MOD IT AS YOULL GET IT WHERE SUN DONT SHINE WHEN IT GOES WRONG IS THAT SO HARD TO GET IN TO YOUR HEAD.

Ok I saw the bloke and he said the head gasket failure which dont have anything to do with any mods but is a fault with all RS engines so he has given me a fee to sort it but first I am going to go back to ford with this information because clearly if this isnt to do with any modding then it is wriggling out by ford to suggest it is.

So basically ford are trying to wriggle from this by saying if its modded then they dont have a do anything but the problem is not caused by the mod and thats fair is it apparently. I would have thought on a car forum people would stick up for car owners and not be part of the ford annual conference to swindon but hey ho, one way or another it will be fixed soon and you can all go back to patting yourselves on the back for being so clever.

If you dont want to accept the RS isnt as good then fine I will be selling this ASAP to get the type r or the new meagne rs.

He documented the mods for you then? So you have a report from a qualified professional which states what changes have been made, with supporting evidence, and what your failure mode is, again with evidence, and why the two aren't linked, again with, you guessed it, evidence.

Armed with this information you can take your argument to Ford and have a reasoned debate as to why they should repair the car for free.

Out of interest what have Ford officially said the problem with your car is and what work is shown on the official quote you've obtained for your file of evidence?

Assuming you're not using a flat bed, it's interesting that you continue to drive the broken car which doesn't work. I can't see how that is going to help in any way.

Given you are using it, you could pop a picture up to silence the doubters. Whilst you've got your camera out, you could post images of all the documents you've gathered so people can provide considered advice.
When did I say I drove it lol. Jesus are you aware that men have legs and can come to an object without it moving. And i dont need to prove tiddly squits to anyone on here. Bell + ends = bellends.

It doesn't take a genius to know that modifications void the warranty, so it's easy to see which half you belong to, assuming you exist.

I'm staggered by the responses on here and ashamed how piston heads has changed.

The OP is clearly being defensive, doesn't want to accept the truth of the matter that he is liable and doesn't come across as the most articulate however the bullying language and completely over the top responses should of be stopped.

As the OP isn't going to be helped (as much as some have asked the right questions with no response) MODs can you close this thread.
Thank you. I think bullying is an understatement!! I have answered every question asked so not sure what the problem is. I dont know whats wrong with the car, didnt even come on here for a lecture just to say be careful before buying this sort of ford.
