Ford Fiesta ST from £18,995!

The first drive will arrive soon, but the Fiesta is already off to a very good start with a £19k price

Among its many talents, one of the previous Fiesta ST's most appealing aspects was its fantastic value for money; at launch it cost £16,995, making it look conspicuously affordable against rivals. That looks set to continue with the new three-cylinder version, with prices starting at £18,995.

Driven: read our first impressions of the new Ford Fiesta ST

For that buyers will get ST-1, boasting Recaro seats, Sync3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control and an 'NCAP Pack', which brings a lane-keeping alert and a speed limiter, as standard kit. Upgrading to ST-2 costs £1,000; same as it did before, and expect it to prove a popular trim level with this Fiesta ST as well. The premium brings climate control, heated seats, a larger eight-inch touchscreen and a Bang & Olufsen sound upgrade. Furthermore, it's only possible to have a five-door ST in ST-2 trim and above, which will likely further increase its popularity - that adds £650.

The range-topping ST-3 is £21,495. For that buyers will get sat-nav, rain-sensing wipers and additional driver assistance tech on top of ST-2 spec. The 18-inch wheels and red brake calipers that are also standard on an ST-3 can be specced on an ST-2, for £350 and £75 respectively.

Speaking of options, perhaps the most interesting available for the new Fiesta ST is the Performance Pack. Adding a Quaife LSD, launch control functionality and shift lights, it costs £850 on ST-2 and ST-3 models. Looks like good value to us...

Additional extras confirmed for the ST include full LED headlamps (again for ST-2 and ST-3only, costing £600), plus a blind spot info system with cross traffic alert for £475, available on all three.

Seven colours are available for the ST: Performance Blue, Silver Fox, Shadow Black, Magnetic, Moondust Silver, Frozen White and Race Red. It's not known yet which of these are standard and which are optional. That being said, even allowing for a £500 paint option, a three-door ST-2 with the Performance Pack, 18-inch wheels and the red brake calipers (because everyone likes red brake calipers) is still less than £22k. Doesn't sound like very much, does it? First drive by the end of the week!
