Novitec N-Largo-s the Ferrari 812 Superfast

Tuner liberates 840hp from V12 - and adds half a foot to the car's width

It was only a couple of months ago that German tuner (or "refinement specialist", as the press release prefers) Novitec did a rather respectable job of fettling the Ferrari Portofino. Respectability doesn't seem to be high on the agenda of its latest creation, however, which takes the form of this widebody 812 Superfast.

The N-Largo (that's pronounced "en lar-go" not "enlarge-o", despite the increased dimensions) features a carbon fibre bodykit that adds a full 5.5 inches to the width of the car. The kit is comprised of new front and rear bumpers, flared fenders which house forged 21-inch front and 22-inch rear wheels, naked carbon sills, four vertical bargeboards, a carbon fibre wing working in tandem with a "discreet roof spoiler lip" and a new bonnet design. Oh, and a great big diffuser.

The entire kit is said to be wind tunnel optimised, and to have a significant effect on the car's aerodynamics - how could it not?- improving stability. Which is something you'll be glad of at the 812's new 215mph top speed. This comes, along with a 2.8 second 0-62 time, thanks to the liberation of an extra 28hp from the 6.5-litre V12, bringing its total output up to 840hp at 8,750rpm and 554lb ft of torque at 7,300rpm.

To round things off Novitec installs new suspension, lowering the ride height by 35mm, adds its own hydraulic lift system, which can raise the car by 40mm again should the need arise, and offers a choice of stainless steel or Inconel active exhaust systems. The latter option not only reduces back pressure and saves 11kg in weight, but can be purchased on its own to be fitted to any standard 812 Superfast and, well, just listen to it.

Finally there's the custom quilted interior, which looks rather smart, actually, just perhaps not in the shade of violet that is shown specced here. So there you have it, a highly unique take on what is already a very exclusive machine. Don't all rush at once.
