just wondering has a car manufacturer ever put a second engine in that wasn't actually connected to the drivetrain just to beef up the sound a bit?

people are complaining about modern exhaust notes a lot these days so what's to stop a 20,000rpm bike engine being stuck at the back hidden somewhere to accompany the noise?

Audi have got you covered
in essence this is what I was talking about as oppose to creating fake sounds in the cabin

it might sound insane but I remember watching a mclaren documentary and they put a lot of effort into creating and adjusting the engine/exhaust to create a pleasing audible noise

my point is in these of days of fake noise within the cabin why not create a similar experience out of it which technically would be authentic as it'd be coming from a small engine

just a thought and not as mental imo as people seem to think here

Stop, have a sit down, perhaps a nice cup of tea, and think what a making noise with a small engine would sound like.
Clue - it would sound like a small engine.
Sitting down having a cup of tea thinking about how I’ve seen 125cc engines on quad bikes so loud they set off car alarms and drive people absolutely insane, probably the loudest vehicles I’ve ever heard in my life. To answer your question
