Took my 981 Boxster S in for it's 4 year service and warranty renewal yesterday and for the first time ever, I didn't have a sudden urge to want to "upgrade" to the loan car I was given. Whilst the service and warranty were far from cheap (as has been covered on here many times) it has in fact saved me a fortune cos I'll probably keep what I've got for at least that warranty period and maybe longer.

I was given a 718 Cayman S for the day while my car was in. Having started my Porsche journey in a 987.1 CS, I've had a 987.2 Boxster S and then my current 981 Boxster S. I've always thought I'd have another flavour of Cayman one day in my usual pattern of trading into a lightly used later model.
I've read a lot about the engine factor and always wondered how it can be that bad - but now I understand. It was a rattly, droning, rough motor with absolutely no character. Granted it was very capable and I could feel the extra urge, but what a price to pay.

At the end of the day I was more than happy getting back into my car and for the first time ever didn't miss the loan car at all which has saved me a fortune! If only I could stretch to one of the 2 GT4s in the showroom.......

Anyone out there like the 718?
