hi all

having spent the best part of 2 hours removing all of the adhesive foam from the front bumper, i am now keen on the nude look....as much for photographs and not having to photoshop....

not keen on driving without front plates.....

has anyone tried blue tack, or better, does anyone know what that stuff it is they use to hold your credit card to the letter...

Can you really see Blue tack holding a plate on at motorway speeds?
no, hence the question....

one half of the velcro will need to be stuck on the bumper though...

the fruits of my labour....

the pre lp560 gallardo is actually very suitable for a plate, as you can see
it's not so much having a removable plate that i am keen on, but the nude and perfect front now seen...

3M makes a double sided tape that looks and feels a bit like the credit card sticky stuff. It is clear and the backing tape is red. There's no residue when you remove it.
sounds like what i need... will investigate... thanks

the stuff i removed left no residue, it was just a pain to remove, using a hydrocarbons based product, looking through the 3m stuff, not sure this stuff just rolls off like the credit card glue....

there is quite a big thread in general gassing on rolling with no plates... anyone here done this? are the BiB more forgiving if it is exotica? can you get away with a plate fixed to the sun visor?

You are driving a car not a fashion statement. Why buy a car and behave like you do? I really don't get it....
confused

stated, whilst driving i am keen to comply with the law and wear front plates....i've brought the reg L4MVO and had new plates made up....

i am simply keen for when taking photos and at shows like wilson house being in the position to remove the plates with a minimum of fuss and effort FFS

I thought these threads would stop when he actually bought a car.
so asking questions is not the done thing here....? what exactly then are these forums for, thanks for your insight.

as much as i know, i do not know everything about everything, the humility to ask is a positive virtue i think....

and saves a heck of a lot of wasted time googling....

When I switched to the LP560 front nose on my Gallardo the number plate fell off, and I did not get around to putting it back on.... Was fine for nearly a year and never bothered by the police.
thanks, though one advantage of the lp fender is a lack of a natural fixing point so it is easy to plead attachment instability when pulled over..good excuse to upgrade.. smile

Two pulls in a few weeks, I can take a hint.
as more and more average cameras go up, the more essential it is for the front plate to be shown so that we can be busted....

Update on this since the threads been resurrected, I used what no nails removable pads, available from most supermarkets, and they are truly removable leaving virtually no residue, and two pads held a plate on no problem.

reading earlier posts did you not fit the hideaway plate holder? I've got a friend who sells both manual and electric versions in the UK.
even though i had lifting gear, was concerned regards ground clearance as i would have to fit it on the base of the bumper
