Bringing alcohol into the circuit

Does anyone know the rules on alcohol being brought into the circuit?
They always check your bags, is that a safety thing or are they also checking for alchohol?

The beer is astronomical. I fancy bringing my own whiskey and coke mix for myself. Are they likely to check?

In April im going to watch the 24 hr motorbike race. With no English commentary (I gather) or UK radio I'll probably take the opportunity to sink a few while soaking up the sights and sounds. Hoping I can bring my own in

I had no problems getting a water bottle past security (with actual water) so I'm sure you could spike it easily enough.

I will simply spike the a big bottle of coke then and get happily trashed in my own drunken bubble.

Going to head to my fav haunt on the Mulsanne straight for dinner on the folding bike (I know the bikes dont use that part of the circuit but I like eating there), but apart from that a diet of Whiskey and coke and fags will sustain me well

Its a big big deal in bike world, and very well attended. Its run on the Buggatti circuit.

I think this year there were 5 full factory team entries and dozens of specialist teams. Its was a total lottery as to who was going to win it, totally different to the cars atm.
The French teams and riders have historically dominated which must add to local appeal - albeit Jap manufactures e.g. Yamaha France, Kwasaki France etc

I noticed crowds all the way round the circuit watching it on tv.

Its also full of nuts French bikers apparently who are given hundreds of pallets in the campsite to stop them cutting down trees for firewood.

Never heard of trouble, just lots of fires everywhere and enthusiastic crowds.

Someone on here told me the locals turn out en masse lining the roads to see the bikers riding out when its all done. Sounds like Assen which I've been to a few times.

1000cc Superbikes are what they run.

If you are, or look like a hooligan you willl most likely get checked, if you look like an old git like me then smuggle away. Best to arrive one by one if in convoy in case one gets rumbled.

Im talking about the circuit not the campsites, I take it you mean the sites? I will look ordinary and geeky enough to look like someone who wouldn't spike his own drink

I knew about the pallets because we found tens of thousands of nails everywhere across Bleu Sud. Didn't know that's where they came from. Fecking shortsighted ACO.

Not good, never thought about the nails but thats a proper hazard for sure

So it is a no alcohol rule then. I'll just do a whiskey coke mix in a big coke bottle. Not paying their prices food or drink on principle...they are just taking the mick.

We get a 3 course dinner on the roads section for only slightly more than they charge for burger and chips in the circuit

Thanks for the heads up. I think whisky in a coke bottle and diluted with coke should work a treat!
