Barbados Rally #2
Graeme Finlayson recalls the final stage of his Caribbean adventure
Discussion
Well, being Barbadian, I naturally HAD to watch the rally. I've seen previous footage of the Fluke Motorsport's Westfield performing very well, but that was on tarmac race circuits. So, everyone's question was, "How is this very low and roofless little car going to survive on a rally like ours...especially with a Brittish driver; those guys are nuts you know!"
Anyways, some consistant and controlled tail-out action in stage #1 quickly dispelled any misgivens about the car, and more importantly, about the driver keeping it all together.
Overall, it was an enjoyable rally. However, as Graeme said, we did miss some of our favorite drivers due to last minute pull-outs.
Anyways, there's always next year guys, so don't miss this one.
(p.s. Kudos to the flying englishman, Martin Stockdale and his E36 BMW M3. We have some very tight roads in Barbados and Stockdale put down a very "tight" performance...very sideways, very sideways indeed!)
