Steering Wheels - why so expensive?

Looking to replace my 4-spoke 993 airbag steering wheel (manual car) with a black 3-spoke from a 996 and I'm surprised at the prices being asked from even the breakers on ebay.

Do secondhand worn ones really sell for £325, £350, £389, £399 plus postage?

If that's the case, does anyone have one they could sell me or are there any reasonably priced alternatives? I've looked at new ones and those prices seem mental too, some of them over a grand.


I know it's a Porsche, but it's still only a steering wheel.

Hi Rob,thanks, I've had one of those and find the grip too big. Good value though compared to a £1200 version.
