Diablo rear spoiler re. Bruntingthorpe

Do any of the Diablo owners know whether removal of the rear wing would have a material impact on top speed of the car (I'm assuming the downforce must be causing drag), and whether the handling is materially impacted?
For Brunters on the 12th I'm considering going from this:-

...it looks a fairly easy job to get if off.... the hack-saw should go through the plastic quite easily.
I recall overhearing one of the guys at a VW meet last year saying that he did it frequently, but can't remember who it was.
