So back in may I posted a topic as I was trying to work out which Aston Martin was for me... and after much soul searching and deliberation, just over a week ago the right one for me came up for sale, I put a holding deposit on and yesterday went and agreed to buy it. Some will probably think I'm mad because it's the first one I went to see "in the flesh" but it ticked all the boxes I was looking for, it felt right when I drove it and I woke up this morning thinking of the burble as it started for the first time.

It's a Manual V8 Vantage S Roadster, 2017 MY in Skyfall Silver with Obsidian Black Leather/Silver Stitching with just about all the toys it's a last of line model. It's got less than 3k miles on the clock and I've got a ridiculous grin on my face too (that's Mrs Hinds not me in the car btw!)

So now I have some questions... have naturally been offered all manner of extra protections and I'm wondering which ones people have previously gone for and have you been pleased with your choices?

  1. Topaz Protect - Plastic "shield" for the paintwork... if I did it would be Full-front and Sills... I'm thinking in favour of this but haven't got a quote for it yet as it's due to be mailed to me
  2. G Technique paint and interior for £599 - don't know if it's worth doing this with the above or not
  3. Asset Protection - Basically GAP insurance for £749. Car is intended to be a keeper and won't be on finance so I've generally not been considering it, but accept this is somewhat different to buying your everyday car
  4. Tyre Insurance - 5 tyres over 3 years for £399. Thinking not for this one
  5. SMART Insurance for £399 for chips/scratches etc... wondering if this is actually worth going for even if I do shield the bonnet etc
  6. Alloy Wheel Repair including Lathe Skims for 3 years for £299... again thinking yes to this
I'm sure there are a million and one other things that could be offered but this is just the dealer initial list. What are people's thoughts?

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of the advice and input - it's really helped me decide which way to go on things! Appreciate the balance of experience and I should say publicly that nobody in Simon's team was in any way pushy with products, only offering them for me to consider. I have to admit my experience with the whole Aston Martin team at AM Cambridge has been totally superb from the first phone call, Simon you should be very proud of the team you have - they are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum to the team at the dealer closest to me!

Kind regards

Chris
