Audi S3 2017-2019 Any thoughts?
Discussion
Looking for my next daily and I fancy an S3. Think I’d prefer the hatch over a saloon or cab. I always try to buy private but low mileage cars in private sales seem particularly thin on the ground.
Can anyone in the know advise me what model year saw CarPlay move from wired to wireless? I was hoping that a 2019 car would have it as standard, but it seems that the system was still wired.
Any opinions re particularly desirable options? I’d like the B and O audio and perhaps super sports seats. Other than that anything to look for?
I’d like something with really low miles. Main dealer listed a car with one owner and 6000 miles early last week which sold for 28K.

Low/mid £20’s seems about right. Pity the CarPlay isn’t wireless and I’m not a massive fan of the MMI, albeit I’ve got used to it. I value low miles and history over a later car as well. Seen a few cabs in the right mileage/price band. They seem much less popular than the hatch, which is odd as cabs I usually fetch more than their tin roofed counterparts.
I called about a nice grey cab in the week but it had sold.

Still looking. Don’t want one enough to pay north of £26k. The new shape starts at £30 albeit with higher miles. PH classified used to contain lots of nice 1 owner low miles stuff. Making those without grandfather rights have to pay for an ad has reduced the number of private sales enormously.
It still irks me that so many people are happy to take lowball offers from dealers for all manner of low mileage, pampered cars, letting the trade mark them up enormously for doing little more than a wash and hoover- if that, and adding a mandatory third party warranty. I’ve seen a number of lovely low miles cars at franchised Audi dealers advertised at money that would make Bruce Wayne flinch.

Found a nice super low miles S3 2019, with a franchised Audi dealer. Called, and spoke to a sales guy. £28k for a 2019 S3 is punchy, albeit I like the miles and the spec.
Offered £26k. It seemed to seriously scramble the logic circuits of the guy I was talking to. Absolutely not interested in discounting at all. 2 weeks before Xmas and while the market is a bit flat I thought they may have been more motivated.
Called again today, as they still have the car a month later. Salesman had loud music in the background while talking to me, raised voices from colleagues. For a main dealer it sounded like they were having a Xmas party or just not interested. Bizarre.

If you're financing, I would consider buying a new one through Drivethedeal. £20k+ on a 7 year old S3...doesn't seem appealing to me. I had a stint in a manual 2018 8V saloon when it was new- which was great; no way would I pay £20k+ to get into one now- I'd buy an AUC F82 M4.
Not financing and I do take your point. £26k apparently not enough to buy a nice 1 owner car with 6k miles. I’m not willing to pay more than that as the depreciation when I want to change in 12 months will be too punchy. An old M4 doesn’t seem like a great daily.
