Amusingly, after installation, it served me a page with an ad on it. Which another blocker blocked. They just cannot help themselves.

The Chrome YouTube ad blocker has not entirely solved it.

I still get a small banner advert or the video won’t start. I assume because it is trying to serve an ad.

I tried various options suggested above, but to no avail. A problem that persisted was videos not playing as the extension battled YT ads for supremacy.

Currently, Adblock for Youtube and Adblock Plus / Chrome is working. I DO briefly get a message saying "ad blockers aren't allowed on Youtube" but it disappears rapidly as one of my blockers wrestles it to the ground.

So, at the moment, so far so good.
